Thanksgiving 2005, I brought my three young sons to a remote area in the vineyard countryside of Northern California, excited to share my dream to create a joint vineyard adventure. Starting from a flat field of star thistle I was to be a beginning Land Developer. At the outset, not much to look at during our first visit. Such an uncharted entrepreneurial adventure we planned to create one tree at a time, one blade of grass at a time setting in place one stone methodically create a destination of olive trees, grape vines, fruit trees, walk ways, wandering pathways and vegetable gardens. Pied-à-Terre, Makiivka Estate, is now a scenic estate for members from around the world, an oasis backdrop for relaxation, exploration, celebration, seminars, wine & food pairings, music, cars, exercise, entrepreneurial pursuits, including travel, sports, wellness, healing, balance, art, architecture, financial fitness, world markets, international fashion and cooking.
My “tunnel vision approach” visualization process, no one can give this to you; no one can wake this up within you. Utilize my story as a grounding board to allow your mind to imagine the following super star stories. Believe you are capable today from the inside out of similar miracles. Steve Jobs created an idea which he transformed into a company he named “Apple” out of his father’s garage after dropping out of Stanford. Larry Ellison with a passion for computer programming dropped out of Harvard only to create Oracle. Bill Gates created Microsoft after he dropped out of Harvard. Dropping out of a college or major university is not a prerequisite for success. Each of these imaginative and creative men were driven by an inner spark, an inner focus and belief, not a school they attended not a book they read. Acknowledge your starting point- never stop, go for it.
The concept of “Paying yourself first” is not a complex principle but one grounded on self-respect and self-love. Society filled with materialistic urgings will attempt to get in the way leading you astray “I do not have enough to pay myself”! Be grounded and firm, you come first, financially and emotionally.
Financial Independence will be yours via a simple plan started at an early age involving steps to pay yourself first. Such a portfolio would be comprised of solid earning worthy companies representing stocks, bonds, treasuries and real estate. Returns generated from a long-term equity portfolio strategy held to appreciate over time will allow for a secure financial life not left to question or speculation. Read about individuals in powerful books “Think and Grow Rich”, “A Course in Miracles” “An American Hedge Fund” and “The Intelligent Investor”. To be disciplined and focused, allow for the creation of a disciplined budget, start by cutting everything, save as much as you can each pay period until it hurts, then add back only the absolute essentials, make it “game like”. See how you do first day, first month and then first year. Surround yourself with like minded individuals on the same path. If you give up your latte habit create an environment at home to make the latte’s exceptional! Attain financial independence one baby step at a time, your own way, write about it, plan for it, creating the roadmap to remove old habits with things likely to enhance creativity and growth vs spending to feel good. Demand yourself to make enriching life choices (cook at home, make coffee at home watch movies at home, have a spouse cut your hair, color your hair, wine and dine you at home). creative things otherwise not possible. With the enhancement of time and money, attend to your inner growth and monitor your wealth building. Through it all, remember the process can inspire others to change and create habits of money consciousness. Your ability to commoditize yourself, to believe in your abilities, will create within you an unstoppable force translated into money, success and long term entrepreneurial discovery for you and your family through the passion you have for empowering self and others.

However, a latte again and again day after day may take you further from your goals if this is not figured into your budget; sad but true! As you grow your financial health it is equally important to care for your personal health. Daily take time for you, keep fit with a variety of exercise routines and rest periods. Walk, move, decrease stress, engage, keeping your muscles, bones and spirit supple and supported. Eat colorful fresh fruits and vegetables, decrease salt, decrease fat. Good protein burns fat. Grains are essential, balance and moderation is key. Good living involves engaging with people who care and nature. As a caregiver promoting inner peace, body awareness, the challenge to stay healthy must come first involving a consistent transformation of body, mind and spirit essential to feed your body, your soul, exercise your mind, skin, spirit and faith each day
A New York New Jersey Girl, moderation was not what I was driven to aspire to achieve. As I mature, seeing life from a more mature and seasoned space, I am drawn always to my farm, animals, the beauty of land, privacy, open spaces, planting, growing and nature. I love the gatherings of friends and family around a warm inviting table lingering over meals filled with fresh fruits, vegetables, Northern California Wines, Soups, Vegetables, Pastas, Meats, Cheese, Olives, Breads, Desserts, Candles and Flowers to complete an amicable cherished memorable mood for all to remember.
I advocate for the creation of a personal mission, mentoring and empower yourself and others in diverse areas of self-growth and learning via the implementation of social and economic change to beautify this crazy world in which we live. Allow yourself to make a difference, say no to violence, say no to resentment, and say no to scorn and exclusion. Promote kindness, compassion and equality.
The law is not always fair. It may take a life time of humility to learn we cannot win every battle. I suppose we are here not to win battles but to experience valuable life lessons. For certain, I have been provided life lessons I can now share. Others may attempt to take you down, gossip, harass and violently abuse you. Do not be drawn down by those who crave to undermine, control or quash you, your dreams, your aspirations. I advocate to stay your course, stand firm, do not be moved by tendencies of others less fair or less kind. Choose to love patiently care for you and rise above.
